Top 5 BBA Entrance Exams in India: Exam Pattern and Selection Process

Bachelor of Business Administration or BBA programs are available nationwide at almost all top B-schools and universities. Hence it is critical to understand at least the basic know-how of the BBA entrance exams in India.

After graduating Class 12 from a recognised board of schooling, the next step would be to select a suitable college for admission. You must take care of numerous procedures before getting admitted into any institution. These may include learning the BBA course details, BBA entrance exam syllabus, etc. The method of testing and the BBA entrance exam preparation may vary depending on the institute.

BBA Course Details

1)       BBA Entrance Exam Pattern

The BBA entrance exam evaluates candidates on four to five essential competencies. It is centred on a slightly higher end of the 12th class, albeit the degree of difficulty varies annually for every BBA entry exam. Each year, the BBA entrance exam format is altered to set a threshold for BBA admission to Delhi University, GGSIPU, Symbiosis, and other elite colleges.

2)       BBA Entrance Exam Syllabus

There isn’t a particular syllabus that you need to follow, but you have to be well-versed with the basics of a few subjects, solve sample papers and become familiar with previous years’ question banks to get comfortable with the exam pattern. Here are a few subjects that are usually tested in a standard BBA entrance exam:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Logical Reasoning
  • Data Interpretation
  • General Awareness

3) BBA Entrance Exam Selection Process

The BBA entrance exam selection process varies from one institute to the other. There may or may not be an entrance exam since admission can also be based on high school graduation marks at times. Besides, there may also be several rounds of personal interviews (PI) and group discussions (GD) as well. The following paragraphs discuss the specific entrance exam pattern and selection processes for India’s top 5 BBA entrance exams.

The Top 5 BBA Entrance Exams

1)       CUET

The National Testing Agency (NTA) administers the Central University Entrance Exams (CUET) for students seeking admission to undergraduate programs at participating universities across India. Before the introduction of the DU BBA GMAT, applications to the DU BBA were handled by the DU JAT.

There is just one exam every year, and it is a two-hour computer-based test. The test may be taken in up to 13 different languages and will be recognized by 80+ colleges and institutions across the nation. The exam will include a required language section, two subject-area sections, and a general knowledge section. It is worth noting that compared to other BBA institutions in India, Delhi University institutes provide BBA at an inexpensive cost.

Selection Process – 65% in the selection exams and 35% in class 12

Exam Pattern – The total number of questions is 100, and the duration of the exam spans 120 minutes. Candidates must answer questions based on Quantitative and Reasoning Ability, English, Business, and General Awareness.

2)       IIM Entrance Exam

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore hosts the Integrated Program in Management Aptitude Test (IPMAT). To be eligible for selection in the Indian Institute of Management, Indore’s five-year integrated program, prospective students must first take the nationwide admission test known as IPMAT. The program combines a four-year bachelor’s degree with a master’s in business administration.

In 2011, the IPMAT was administered for the first time but what makes it unique among BBA examinations is that it includes both short-answer and multiple-choice question formats. There are two parts to the IPMAT examination:

  • Proficiency in English Language (MCQs)
  • Capability with Numbers (Both MCQs and short answers)

Selection Process – Minimum 50% in written exam, 15% in Written Ability Test

(WAT), and 35% in PI.

Exam Pattern – A total of 100 questions,  two hours in total length, and the marks are divided based on 60% for Quantitative Aptitude and 40% for Verbal Aptitude.

3)       Christ Entrance Test

A student seeking admission to Christ University must first score well on the Christ University Entrance Test, often known as the CUET. This entrance exam is taken by thousands of students for a diverse range of courses offered by the institute every year.

Selection Process – A Christ University Entrance Examination, Competency Assessment Exam, Mini Presentation, and Individual Interviews are all part of the shortlisting procedure for getting selected in Christ.

Exam Pattern – There are a total of 120 multiple-choice questions on the CUET exam, and they are broken up into the following six categories:

  • Simple Bookkeeping
  • Capabilities in English, Reading Comprehension, and Verbal Deduction
  • Familiarity with Basic and Recent Events
  • Quantitative Literacy and Fluency in Basic Mathematics
  • Logical Reasoning
  • Understanding and Analysis of Data
  • SET BBA

The Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) is among India’s most competitive BBA entrance tests. Thousands of applicants register for this entrance exam every year. The SET test is a prerequisite for enrollment in a wide variety of bachelor’s degree programs, including management, legislation, architecture, finance, mass communication, computer programming, and liberal arts.

The SET BBA does not have any negative marking and contains questions from a diverse range of subjects, including mathematics, statistics, general awareness, logical reasoning, English comprehension, etc. Around 80 locations throughout India will host the 2023 SET computer-based examinations. The SET exam paper has four parts, and they are as follows:

The Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) at SVKM administers an admission test called the NMIMS Programs After Twelfth (NPAT) for students seeking admission to their preferred colleges for an undergraduate degree in BBA. Every NMIMS campus recognises the results of this entrance exam. The exam tests aspirants for their quantitative thinking and numerical proficiency, logical reasoning, general knowledge, and a basic English language grasp.

Selection Process – Equal weightage is provided to the entrance exam scores, high school graduation scores, personal interviews and the group discussion stages.

Exam Pattern –  A maximum of 120 questions will be administered, with one point allotted to each correct answer. The total duration is two hours.
